Well, just a quick post before I head off into the wide blue yonder of working womandom. I officially start my job tomorrow morning. This is the first job I've had in MANY years and surprisingly, I'm not yet nervous, just really excited. Thank you God! I'm not naive enough to think this job won't provide some bumps in the road; despite that, I think this job was tailor made for me by the man upstairs. Not only will it be nice to have a few hours to myself each day, I will be doing something I love. Already been practicing Seasons of Love (any Rent fans out there??? Gosh I love musicals.) I am a bit unsure of how I will get myself and two children showered, breakfasted(huh?), and out the door by 7:15.... Any suggestions from those of you experienced in this area? I love my morning cup of joe, but being gone 'til 10:30 means I must couple it with breakfast...YUCK! Any suggestions for a quick, cheap, healthy breakfast? Gee, I'm not asking much am I.
Well, as I leave my precious kids for the first time in 7 1/2 years (well, not really.... you know what I mean...) I thought I'd share a little story about leaving babiedom behind. Jason and I decided a while back that 3 was a great number and we were done having kids. Most of the time I'm thrilled we made this decision and glad we don't have the option of changing our minds (I'll spare you the details.). But last night as I rocked Zeke to sleep I felt my heartbreaking for a stage never to revisited until I become a grandma. He came down the stairs at 11:15 (don't ask!) and my initial reaction was
be frustrated and put him back in bed for the 7th time. But he says with a totally fake sad face, "I'm crying... Mommy...I'm crying!" Oh it was just too much. I sat with him for 20 minutes and rocked and sang and cried. The realization that this was probably the last time I would be able to hold my children like this was just about more than I could bear. The thought also occurred to me as I sat there, that without the grief of losing a precious niece I probably wouldn't cherish these moments as deeply as I do. More than anything I was just deeply thankful to God for finding me a worthy mother to my 3 darling ones.

Good Luck with your new job!! I am sure you will do fine!! Praise God for providing this wonderful job!! He is so good!!! I know what you are feeling about your kids growing up and never to experience such wonderful close moments again. But he will replace those with different but equally wonderful moments as they grow and achieve so many things. Life goes in stages and many we are not ready to move on to. But as they say, life goes on and we just have to go with it. You just have to enjoy each day as you have it and cherish each moment!! We are so proud of you for being such a wonderful mother to our beautiful grandchildren!!
Love,
Mom Grate

Good luck with the new job. I am excited for you. I often sit in the kids room after the rest of the world goes to sleep and wonder where time has gone. They were once so small that I could scoop them up in one hand and now they are telling me when they are scared and are experiencing the world around them. Love to you and Jason and the kids!

I can totally relate and I have a new one to rock coming, I often think I could have like six kids because I will miss that stage so much. Then I think about the cost of raising the kids past the rocking stage and think maybe two is just right:)!

Holly, I was thinking about your breakfast delima....here are some Monize Faves that are quick:

1. a cup of yogurt and an english muffin or bagel - it's quick and they like it

2. the night before, spray a bowl for each child with non-stick cooking spray. mix about a tablespoon of water for each egg, and put some sausage pieces in. In the morning, you can microwave them for a few minutes (our microwave is a little older, so it takes a while). The bowl and the eggs will be REALLY hot when they get done, so you will want to make sure that you fix the bowls about 10 minutes before they will want to eat them. You will also want to cover them with a paper towell before heating. Stir a couple times while heating, too. It's our "big breakfast" with no mess...

3. I get big bags of cereal (off-brand) because we go through so much, and I always have a "set of spares" handy. - in other words, I put some cereal with some raisins or whatever I have to make our own "trail mix" in baggies. When our mornings are REALLY bad, they each grab a baggie and get a juice box or individual milk from the gas station if I'm out of juice boxes. It's our eat-it-in-the-car-and-hope-we-all-got-our-shoes-on-before-leaving-meal.

I'm not totally sure how nutritious these are or what your kids eat, but I know that mine will eat ANYTHING - literally. (I'm really lucky.) You'll find a way. It's a really good idea to have those "spares" around though.

GOOD LUCK!

Hopefully Josh and I can provide a new niece or nephew sometime in the future to rock to sleep...but if you get the joy of putting him/her to sleep you get the burden of getting up at 2:30 am. No, you don't have to breastfeed! :-)

I'm chuckling...4 truly is a nice, even number, doncha think?? I like 4, not yet....dear Lord, I need more sleep first.

I'm thinking 4 sounds good too :) We'll see what God has in store. Jaden stayed cuddly like that for what seemed forever, but not Asher. Since he was like 3mos old, he's just wanted to be layed down and left to fall asleep on his own :(

Oh, don't even get me started thinking about rocking babies. awwww... I hope the first couple days have gone well. For breakfast we occasionally do those "Lean Pockets" with cheese, egg, and bacon. You can also make a giant batch of pancakes and freeze them.

Quick healthy breakfast....
Hmm, I'd have to say try the pre-made smoothies in the produce section usually by pre-packaged salads...
The NAKED brand is good or the
Bolthouse brand is great too.
Protein smoothies, fruit smoothies, energy smoothies, and even C-boost smoothies.
Usually run around 2.50-3.00 per smoothie, but very good for you, all natural and very filling single serve little guys...
