My take on American Idol...

Well, after commenting on everyone and their brothers blogs about my varied opinions, I thought it only appropriate I should post my thoughts on my own blog. Beware!! I am PASSIONATE (to a fault!) about this,so take it all with a grain of salt. (Or don't...)
First- Taylor. I understand his appeal, but personally, he just grates on my nerves. I don't think his voice was ANYTHING to write home about, especially when compared to talents like Katherine, Mandisa, Paris, etc. etc. I think Kat had BY FAR the best voice, but her camera schmoozing was more than I could stand. Just annoying! I will definately buy her music, though, not Taylor's. Dan and Angie, I'm totally with you on this one!!!
Now my take on the two finale shows. The two new songs were just regrettable. Too awful to believe an actual SONGWRITER attached his/her name to it. I really think it was a true injustice for Kat to have to sing that- it was definately the nail in her coffin! The results show last night was just inexcusable!!! AWFUL, HORRIBLE, I HATED IT! Ok, there, I said it, whew, I feel much better! The whole Clay Aiken schtick had me hiding under my blanket, I mean, REALLY uncomfortable. I truly can't believe he agreed to do it. And what was with Toni Braxton? She is one of my favorite voices, but last night was just plain weird. Was her mic not working? What was she singing? WAS she singing? She was using Taylor for her pole dance and his parents looked about to puke at the end of it. Truly embarassing. If she was trying to revive her career, she just lost my money.
The true highlights were Carrie U., Mary J., and Prince. Carrie was FLAWLESS. She has improved markably since last season; I just loved it! Mary J. has become one of my favorites since I heard some of her latest album- genius! And what can I say... Prince just blows me away! I was entertained from the moment he stepped on to the moment he stepped off. %2

Holly,

We're in 99% agreement (I could have blogged a short novel about the show - Toni Braxton, yeah - what can you say?). That 1% is on Clay Aiken ... LOVED it (did NOT love the hair). It was a tad on the uncomfortable side, but Clay's a class act. I honestly think that nerd-boy was in 7th heaven. We were surprised that Clay agreed to do the show with all of the bad blood between he and Simon (lawsuits, etc).

When it's all said and done, we agree about most everything (I can't wait to see how long it takes for those two ridiclous songs to TANK on the charts).

MUCH LOVE!

TANK!!!!!! I couldn't have said it better. No question they're not gonna make much money off of those two songs. I think you and Jason should submit some songs for next year. Yeah?

I didn't really follow American Idol. I know I am the only one in America to not watch it. (I did see the final show and parts of others.) But Taylor does not fit into my description of what an American Idol should look like. I think it should be the whole package. I did enjoy Carrie Underwood a lot. She did an awesome job. Found my myself oddly enjoying Prince. (Had a flashback to his movie and that Raspberry Beret-FREAKY!) I loved the whole Clay Aiken and the fruity boy thing. I was DYING laughing and I thought Clay's hair was to hide his plastic surgery scars. (had those ears tied back, ya know.)

P.S. What is this about Jen moving?

Taylor RULES!
The show was GREAT! (minus most of the awards)
Aiken was the MAN!

I guess I'm on the other side of this one? :)

(I do agree that the song choices blew. Not fair to Kat, but still glad she lost)

Girl, I love Prince. What a mystery, but unbelievable. I think he is one of those elusive figures that just is "cool". (in a relatively androgynous way) What a staple to pop music history.

Toni was high and juiced up on something potent.

Mary J. has class and she can sing. Poor Elliot, who I do love, spent more time in awe than singing.

Holly--this comment is so unrelated with this American Idol post...(however you know my thoughts about all that! HA!)

But a BIG thank you for all your comments on our blog! We can really feel the hugs even though you aren't really here! We've been through every emotion you can think of! But are super excited about the triplets!

You are an amazing woman and I am so glad to be a friend of yours.

Holly... NPR moment... did you listen to "On Point" today about gay rights/civil rights. One of the people on they had as a guest made me want my brain to explode. I need to know if you heard it because I must talk to someone about this. You might just be the only one I can count on right now.

I believe that each person blogging needs to make sure they comment on their fellow man's or womans blog each time. It is discouraging to me to see only one comment. If you are offended by something just say you crossed that fine line of good taste and then the blogger will know why no one has anything to say. for me I am disappointed with the fact that you people are not writing more often and I personnaly enjoy the comment section too.

So lets all say it together, write those blogs.... write those blogs... I can't hear you!!! W-R-I-T-E T-H-O-S-E- B-L-O-G=SSSSSSSS.

Hey Holly, It's so nice to hear from you. Your kids are so cute, its dangerous, especially your little girl. Jason had better get the shotgun out early - like when she turns 5!
That is really weird that you have a brother here in Okinawa. He's just right up the road from us. We're halfway done with our 3 year tour. If you're ever in the neighborhood, let me know - I'd love to see you guys!
God Bless!
