Sabbatical Day 7- Puppets and the life of Emmy Rae Grate.

I remember the first time in saw behind the curtain. And realized that the colorful characters singing songs to a horrific sounding casset tape for our churches puppet show were teenagers from my dads youth group. I was 7. I felt betrayed. There are puppet masters in Germany who spend their entire lives learning the mastery of the strings in puppetry. How to control something, and make it do what you want it to do takes a lifelong commitment to master. When you have a daughter, and you love her with a love that is almost painful, she will become the puppeteer of your heart. A girl is different than boys. Especially with their fathers. Emmy has me right where she wants me. It's almost hypnotic:). Emmy is a passionate socialite who is always looking for a good time with friends. She excels in her school work and works very hard in her early crush on musical theater and vocal music. This lovely lady is passionate about her church family. She never wants to miss an opportunity to be in community with her friends. Emmy has a sweet tooth that is diabolical in its pursuit of anything with sugar. I blame this entirely on David Wisen and his weekly allowance of chocolate chips given to her by him at his bakery in Grand Haven Michigan...by the handful. In my job description, I perform numerous wedding ceremonies. I cry every time. Every. Single. Time. I know one day that will be me with a princess on my arm, so beautiful, that my heart will break with joy at her very appearance. I can only pray, which I do daily, that the one who captures her heart will love her as much as I...
To a father growing old nothing is dearer than a daughter.
